Hello everyone.  So I am having a little difficulty and was hoping some of you (with your beautiful minds) might be able to help me find a solution.

I have been drawn to the Hematite stone for a while now.  Every few years someone ends up buying me a bracelet or necklace adorned in this beautiful stone. However, after wearing it for a brief period of time, it ends up getting broken. The clasp with break, or the string will snap in 2. I will fix it as best I can only for it to end up breaking again.  Or they just plain go missing.  I've had one smooth round stone for about 8 years that I now keep in my purse for safety.  (When my ex and I were together I would always catch him with it in his mouth... he wasn't even sure why he did it.  And after I had my son, I noticed that he always wanted to play with it and would try to put it in his mouth as well. So now I keep it in my purse)

My question is: Could there be any specific reason only jewelry with this stone get broken or lost? I have several other stones and jewelry but they are all fine.

Could my energy be off balance and effecting its durability?

And: Is there anything I can do to keep it from happening again?

I love wearing Hematite, it brings me calm when all around me is chaotic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hematite is on the heavier side- that's why many people use hematite to stretch their ear lobes.  It's definitely heavier than normal beads made of plastic or glass.  This could be why your jewelry keeps breaking.  Try buying your own jewelry-making items (found at any craft store, even some WalMarts) and make sure you make a hefty necklace/bracelet/etc.

If using stretch chord, I'd pick out a thicker one, or double up on the thinner one.  For the clasps, there are some that are higher quality than others, so of course the cheaper ones will be more prone to breaking.

I used to make jewelry/crafts all the time, so this sounds like a simple matter of craftsmanship and the weight of the stone.

Thank you Moody Thursday for your advice.  I know the last one I had I put on a hemp cord after the elastic chord broke, then the clasp broke.  I will try what you have suggested.

Hematite is one of my favorites stones as well. It was the very first stone I was ever drawn to. Hematite is also a 'problem' stone for me - with everything that you have mentioned. I even did the practical, as suggested by Moody Tuesday, and made my own bracelet. It's still intact, but it does have a tendency to fall off my wrist, and get caught on things, although it shouldn't, as it's double threaded elastic. I have had a Hematite ring split in two, after wearing it for a few weeks. I have one polish Hematite stone, with an engraved gold buffalo, that stays on my bedroom dresser, next to a buffalo statue, that never leaves. Then I have another polished stone, and I believe this was my first Hematite that I ever got - 20 years ago, that is always getting 'lost', but I don't worry too much about it, because it eventually turns up, just to disappear again.

Although I'm super attracted to Hematite, I noticed that I am more anxious and moody when wearing it. I've actually had a Smoky Quartz bracelet I made - made it at the same time as the Hematite. This broke and shattered. Smoky Quartz makes me feel apathetic and bluesy.

The reason I bring up my experiences with Smoky Quartz along with the Hematite, is both stones are 'similar'. Similar meaning that all stones are either electric (projective, masculine) as well as magnetic (absorbing, feminine), but in varying degrees, and Hematite and Smokey Quartz, both fall more on the magnetic/absorbing side.

Usually when a crystal breaks, while wearing it, is because it has absorbed great deal of energy quickly it needs to release it - like a balloon filling with air, it will eventually pop. After a crystal absorbs a lot of energy, it is like a soaking wet sponge - it's full and it stops having that absorbing power. After a while, you are just soaking in your own 'stuff'. Hematite gets 'dirty' quick because it absorbs so much so quickly. It needs to be cleaned frequently. Also, being aligned with the root chakra, it absorbs much denser energies than other stones. Denser energies take up more space, they are heavier; such as depression is heavy, but fear is heavier.

You might want to evaluate any toxic/heavy energies that you are holding onto and/or that in your environment, as Hematite absorbs these denser energies. Also it's a good idea to regularly cleanse this particular stone.

Black Tourmaline was recommended to me in regards to my experiences with Hematite. I've been told this is also a protective and grounding stone, that does not retain energy like Hematite does. I have yet to obtain any Black Tourmaline, to relay to you the results I have from it, because it just isn't a priority of mine. Generally, I've learned just stir clear of crystals, precious and semi-precious stones, metals (jewelry), watches and even certain technology, as I've became apprehensive of them being within close proximity to me. So, I'm just throwing the recommendation out there, that was giving to me; as you seem to be experiencing the same with Hematite.  If you do try Black Tourmaline, I would surely love to hear about it!

Blessings....

I have had a few hematite rings and they each have broken. They are good for headaches and, if you have a lot of toxic energy it seems that that is why they are breaking. This makes me think that I need to get my hands on a hematite ring again to get rid of some of my negative stuff.

Blessings!

Thank you Flammeous for the information. I will have to pay more attention for my emotions and my environment before and after putting on jewelry with this stone.  I have a very hectic life and I'm sure I have held on to some feeling of anger and resentment from the past.  I will have to see if I have Black Tourmaline and I will let you know my experience with it.

I'm guessing my energy has become toxic... hm Would you happen to have any suggestions on how to rid myself of them?

Pardon me, and apologies for the interjection here...

You could try doing salt baths a couple times a week.  Journal about whatever you are holding onto, if anything, make peace with it an let it go.  Yin yoga, which is a lot of grounding floor poses that open up the hips and help you release that energy into the earth.  Humming low tones, drumming and earthly scents, these will all connect you to the earth and open your root chakra to release the excess energy.

Blessings...

Thank you Flammeous.  I have been doing yoga for a few months now. We have been working on the Chakra and opening the hips. I will try doing the other suggestions along with this.  To be honest with you (and myself), I have been holding on to a lot of pains and these pains have actually kept me from my creative and sensual sides.  But finding this community is helping quite a bit.  I actually opened my box of crafting tools, books, and stones today after putting it away almost 3 years ago.  I let the negative side of myself overtake who I really am and the shame of it has put me into a continuous cycle of anger and frustration.  Thank you again Flammeous and Ms. Witch, the comments you have made on my posts have really made me feel welcome and like I have a place to belong. :)
