AM I LESS THAN WHAT I CALL MYSELF?

How??

Just how am I suppose to fit it all in??

These days are not long enough to let me devote enough time. Does that mean, what I do have time for, makes me less than what I call myself??

Hardly what you expected, I am sure.

This is my short reminder, of why it is so important to not let another set the standards for how I see myself and why it is so vital….

You hear over and over, Being a witch is a way of life, It just encompasses your life. For some, this sounds overwhelming and totally unimaginable….

STOP!! TAKE A BREATH. AND THINK…….

For decades and beyond, being a witch was not putting on a big production for others.

For the meaning of being a witch, is not the number of oils and herbs you have collected that may sit upon a shelf or are buried, hidden in a cabinet.

For most, time does not stop, just to allow you to spend days, stirring a cauldron, busily making spells and potions to do your bidding.

For most, candle making, magical bags, and such, are those activities that we must set aside time for.

Does it make you less of a witch??

No…..

Life is a series of: blending living your beliefs and the actions of living. The day at work was fraught with worries and demands…

How am I supposed to be a Witch with all of this????

I can’t fit one more thing into this day.

BUT…….

The last thing I do before leaving the building…. Visit the bathroom, turn on the water and stand there letting it run over my hands…

” Lady and Lord, as this water from the Earth flows gently over my hands, let it wash away and banish the day’s troubles and worries, so I do not take them home with me… So mote it be….”

As I step out of the building and begin to make my way to my car I pause, stopping where I stand upon this Earth, Letting myself rejoice in the feel of the elements; acknowledging what surrounds me, be it the wind, the warmth and light of the sun, or the dampness of a rain.

“Lady and Lord let me draw strength from you, as I start the next leg of the day balancing children, grandchildren, and the chores of my household…. So mote it be….”

Time… Life….Belief….Action…..Balance….

There is no separation of what I am ….

There are always going to be days, and at times weeks, that the simple devotions of the day, are what make me the Witch I am… Other times, there will be the more private moments of devotion, which are between me and those that need to be.

However, no one, can say I am less than what I am……

Thank you for this I was just talking to a friend, Julia, about this last week. I told her I felt like a bad witch because I hardly have time to set up an altar like I would really like to do more but I have to clear a space and dig everything out. I would love to have an altar out permanently  but  I do not have the space for that right now. She told me that that doesn't mean I am a bad witch. I think that this post will help everyone. Thanks MJ

Sara,

((HUGS)) I am glad it was able to help you realize you are far from a bad witch for not having an Altar set up.... If you would like one... I can tell you how to keep one that will all fit within an altoid box to keep on your night stand ....Though I am sure you can figure it out..... Additionally, I hope it does let people realize that everything it takes to be a witch, is within ...No one needs to have "" things"" , what they need is to put into action their beliefs by how they choose to live their daily life...... One holds the key, by how they live and acknowledge  their beliefs...

Hello,

I have a physical disability that limits how active I can be in what I believe, even how often I can get outside. I have to remind myself several times a day some days that this does not make what I believe in my heart or think in my mind any less valid. That being said, thank you for this as another reminder and I know I don't need it but if you want to share your night stand altar, I would love some tips. I have a bigger one set up but I am really unable to use it as I have trouble lighting candles and other things, I would love a smaller one that would be easier for me to use. :)

MJ I make my own travel altars for myself and others. Thanks!

Awesome post as always MJ.

Blessed be :)

Thank You for your kind words Guinevere.... Blessings... <3

Sara,

Sounds Lovely... Thank You for sharing with  me .... HUGS and BLESSINGS

Moon Beam,

First, I truly believe ones physical limitations do not inhibit one's beliefs. I have to believe that, for you see I have Charcot Marie Tooth Disease, which is commonly referred to as a form of Muscular Dystrophy.Frequently, I have days when my legs fail to support me, I fall. As well as, my hands may have a mind of their own, deciding to not grasp, or hold things that I typically can.

I do a great deal with visualization and found this to be a huge bonus for me. You may find that is an area that will help you gain confidence, in terms of managing the physical restraints. Visualization, allows me freedom of movement, no restrictions on what my body is capable of. The best part of that, is, it allows for freedom of movement in a wide variety of Earthly settings( that honestly, I would not be able to physically walk/hike/ or climb).

You asked about Alternative Altars... I am going to put in several links of mini travel altars you may be interested in modifying, so that they would hold those things that are of value to you :).... Blessed Be and thank you for your heartfelt  response....

MJ,

Thank you for the tips and advice. It is very appreciated. :) I am working hard to improve my visualization.

I hear you.

Nicely written post. - Thank you xx

MoonCrone,

Thank You for your kind words, and honesty.

I am sure that for some, this post is going to hit harder, than it will for others. Each of us hold tight to our beliefs, they serve as the foundation for each day. At times, life has had everyone of us, hitting the floor running, and the pace keeps us in a whirlwind...

That is just simply life....

Balance, one of those keys to staying afloat in life....

Hugs,

I definitely understand this post with a family of six in a fairly small home with two cats, a dog, and two turtles...and no storage space or room to fit things! It seems I am constantly cleaning, attempting to organize, cooking, or dealing with the needs of my children and my man. There is no time or space for lengthy rituals, but as I'm cleaning my home I am cleaning out the old and negative and making room for new and positive things. As my children go to school each day I pray that my love and protection and the love and protection of the Goddess go with them. I light a small candle in the morning sometimes and ask for help with my day and offer gratitude for all that I have been blessed with. It takes less than five minutes, but I am rarely capable of even this sometimes. At the end of the day I either want to cuddle up with my honey and spend some time with him if he's not working night shift, or lay in my warm bed until I fall asleep watching a movie or piddling with my phone. The displays are not necessary, what matters is what you believe and hold dear. Also, how you treat the blessings you've been given. I don't believe that the Goddess would require that you neglect your home or family or even yourself for that matter, simply to perform a showy extended dedication or ritual.
