Winter issue 2011 Little Witch magazine

Today we launch our year-and-a-day magazine and boy are we ever proud! We talk about Imbolc, Yule, hoodoo, about the many uses of hagstones and tattoos in Neo-Paganism, Gerald Gardner, reclaiming our titles and the Wild Hunt. As a bonus, Dutch authors Petra Stam and Marja de Zeeuw preview their own book 'In het licht van de Maan' ('In the light of the Moon') for us. Happy reading and Blessed Yule!…

Crown of Success & Saint Expedite Ritual

My brother had a job interview today to land a very nice Flash Programming/Web Cartoon job that comes with a $1,000 sign up check.  I wanted him to succeed.  Very, very badly, not only because he is my younger brother and I love him to death and want him to succeed and be happy, but because once he gets settled in there is an opening on an upcoming project and I would be 'in like sin' so to speak.

So, what do I do to offer my brother support and look after my own interests at…

First Petitioner Candle

Tonight I made my first petitioner candle on behalf of a classmate's brother. He was severely wounded last week in a motorcycle accident and lies in critical condition in the hospital with a fractured pelvis that continues to fall apart, in spite of surgery.

Today my classmate, whose name will be omitted for privacy, tearfully told me that he was suffering liver failure. This is a very sad situation in itself, but to add to the misery, his wife is expecting her first child any day… Continue

Setting Lights During a Thunderstorm or, Lightning! Eeek!

Beginning at a little after 10:30 tonight, whilst flinching at the torrential downpour and ridiculous amount of thunder and lightning, I started dressing and lighting my Master Spirit Candle, my DIY Saint Expedite Candle and four Master Purpose Candles: blue for healing, green for money/success, red for love/inter-human relationships and black for my Black Cat lucky candle. What can I say, I like to play the lottery and my partner is a Poker fiend!

I anointed the Master Spirit Candle… Continue

Making *My* Conjure Graveyard!

Before any of this post will make any sense, one has to be familiar with what a "Conjure Graveyard" is.  A conjure graveyard is simply a way to dispose of *left-over* material from your hoodoo workings.  Those that do not have a specified means for doing so. For more information on this, please see THIS post by our very own Fan-tab-ulous Oakthorne.

All that is…

Setting My Protection and Healing Lights

*** If you are not familiar with hoodoo Master Purpose Candles please see THIS post first.  Thanks.

Tonight, due largely to the fact that I NEED them, I decided to finally set my Master Purpose Candles for Protection and Healing.  I began by chosing colors for both candles.  For protection I chose red.  I went back and forth about this because I've read may…

My High John the Conqueror Oil

***If you are unfamiliar with High John Oil, please see THIS article before proceeding.

When making my High John Oil, first, I gathered my ingredients onto my altar.  Then I took "John," my High John root, out of his home on the altar. I, then, placed him by my materials so that he could "watch."  I took a moment to explain to John what I was going to do, and how this oil would be used to feed him…

Rose of Jericho/Saint Expedite Petition Ritual

Due to the personal nature of the petition being made, some details will be omitted from this account.  However, I believe that the important information is being passed along. :)

This blog will illustrate a personal petition ritual I preformed, involving a Rose of Jericho (Resurection Plant) and a Saint Expedite candle.

If you are not familiar with the Rose of Jericho, they are…

Buying Graveyard Dirt

In the following, I will share my experience buying graveyard dirt from a very close relative, my Nan.  Due to the personal nature of this experience and my intentions, I will leave some details out.  I am sure everyone will understand.

Today, after class, I visited Keeton Cemetery, where most of my maternal family has been buried since the late 1800s.  I haven't visited in four years, since my Nan's funeral.  The cemetery is set in a clearing ontop of a tall hill.  My Nan's…
