Samhain Prayer for kids

I think I'll try to include this into a little book of stories for my kids.. If we keep a story tradition with the Sabbats, they can learn about Wicca without knowing it.

Samhain is here, cold is the earth,

as we celebrate the cycle of death and rebirth.

Tonight we speak to those through the veil,

the lines between worlds are thin and…

In an instant

...ones whole world can change.

That which is valuable, intrinsic to your person, can be taken within the lifespan of a breath.

So, cherish what you have now. Take nothing for granted.

It could all be gone tomorrow.

Why I don't write poetry...one of my poems

Another ol' writing of mine, this time from 2007 when I was doing some work with the elements leading up to initiation. It's not good--I'll admit that--but since someone asked a while back what my beef with poetry was, it's that most of it sounds like this to my mind. :P

I need to be consumed by

Freedom

once again.

To drive down this familiar road as fast as I can,

So fast that the car that confines me

Cannot itself keep…

Elder Futhark - Interpretation and more

I once meet a woman, who gave me this oversight of the runes and their interpretation.

I hope this can help to somewhat better understand the way to use the runes.

My apologies for the translation from Danish, some words where difficult.

Contemporary fluff

It is rampant in Heathenry. Everyone has their own UPG and what have you, which is fine...to an extent. To ignore the rich cultural history and archaeological evidence at our disposal is a grave error. What are you practicing then? It certainly cannot be said to be Heathen as it bears no resemblance to Heathenry in it's last cultural form.

I have been reminded of this time and time again when dealing with North American Heathens, all of whom have their own politics or Christian baggage…

Considering Coven-style practice?

Considering coven-style practice?  One might first ask you --- what is it you are looking for in a coven?

  • Are you wanting to train in a specific tradition?
  • Are you seeking mentorship with more active or advanced practitioners?
  • Are you simply looking for others to socialize with who share similar spiritual interests?
  • Are you desperate to get help with some problems, both magical and mundane that you…

A Few Thoughts on Shadows

Wrote this back in 2006. Enjoy!

A few thoughts on shadows:

1. Everyone has a shadow, because there is no way for us to exist in total darkness.

2. Spiritual people, because they work closer to the light, often have stronger shadows. This is how the balance is kept.

3. People who claim to embrace the darkness fully, do so many times because they are afraid of what shadow they would cast. By keeping themselves close to darkness, they feel they are…

Religious Addiction and Paganism

The concept of addiction, including the process by which addiction occurs and the methods which lead to recovery, has been a well-known one for a number of years.  More recently investigations have been aimed at the addictive personality to identify the at-risk population in order to prevent addiction from developing.  In addition, both scholars and theologians in the traditional American Judeo-Christian community have begun to investigate the potential for…

Weird huh?

Everytime I hold a piece of fluorite it "burns" my hand, makes it feel really heavy and itchy. Sometimes I get this reaction with other stones, but it ALWAYS happens with fluorite... Weird huh?

On a side note, I am going "proper" clubbing for the first time EVER tomorrow night :) woo hoooo!

Conception, Pregnancy & Childbirth... A living Ritual

Conception, Pregnancy & Childbirth... A living Ritual

In this world there are different types of ritual; religious rituals, the daily ritual that organizes our lives... rituals of nature... like the unending procession of the seasons which guide the ritual of agriculture…  Sowing to harvesting... feasting and waiting again for spring...

So too is the process of parenthood... an ancient ritual... it is the most ancient perhaps because it is the source of us all, not…
