Hi,
So I was trying to gather herbs and plants that are used for supernatural causes.
But I came home with around a dozen of plants that are useless and one yarrow.
So I would like to get a list together with herbs, plants and roots that can be used for supernatural purposes.
if you comment the herbs, roots and plants you know and for what purpose (Think; Hoodoo, Oil, Remedy's, witchcraft etc.)
Then I will try and put a list together so it's clear on what is usable or not:)
I have not found any topic on this, but if there is... I'm sorry

I was able to find it in the back of Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs. I don't know if its exactly what you are looking for but since you weren't too specific I will share:
Yew-Raising the dead(no idea where this falls in or why Cunningham would list it. Not my area here)
Angelica, Basil, Devils Bit, Fern, Nettle, etc.-Exorcism
Bamboo, Chili powder, Wintergreen, etc.-To Break Hexes
Horsetail-To call snakes
Anise- To maintain youth
Saffron, Broom-To Raise Wind
This is not my area but those are some things I found hope they help you.

What I want is when I go 'herb-scouting', to have a list so I know what herbs to gather that can be used for witchcraft etc but without having to carry around a dozen books. So I'm gonna try to shorten the list found in the encyclopedia, and make it more readable for gathering, like you just did in your comment.
When I'm done I will post it here :)
Any other sources are most welcome:)

I'm not suggesting you go down the hoodoo & rootwork path if it's not to your tastes,
but it gives a lot of scope and insight for planning a magical garden!

One of my most treasured books I have is called "A Compendium of Herbal Magic (Paperback) written by a chap called Paul Beyerl.
Maybe you could look out for a copy?

I also have a book for herbs that grow in my area so I took that list and took out the ones I need from Cunningham's book. That way I wasn't searching for something I wouldn't be able to find.
Have fun!!!
