Hey all,

I really want to make my own oatmeal soap or pretty much my own soap in general. However I am a little apprehensive as I have never done it before I have no idea where to start. If I make my own oatmeal would it clean and kill germs on my skin, etc? Also if can't make my own what is a good brand with a reasonable cost that I can use without chemicals and fake fragrance?

Diatomaceous earth :) but it didn't get rid of the flea fast enough for me .. But still try it ..(((" I like the place a few drops of clove, peppermint and tea tree oils on their collars"))) Very good thank you for that one  :)  .. I added a few drops of the tea tree oil with the shampoo and mixed it with a cup of water and washed my dogs with that and boy did that help kill the fleas on them .. was easy to pour the mixture on them and soap them up good too .. rub a little vaseline across their eyes and around their mouths and that will keep the fleas from running and hiding around there when you wash them .. The Fleas have been really bad this year on me .. Also Borax on the carpets will kill the fleas .. leave it down over night if you can but keep the pets off it till you can sweep it up ..

If you already have a flea problem, I suggest Diamatasous*(sp) earth its a powder you can put on their fur, in your carpets and in the litter box. If they have worms you can add it to their food. Be VERY careful about getting it in the nose or eyes as it cuts mucus membraines and is very irritating.to repell fleas once the infestation is over I place a few drops of clove, peppermint and teatree oils on their harness'

Emris, got any flea remedies you can pass to me? I know you can use pennyroyal oil mixed with water I think. But am not sure.

sounds easy! how long does it take to harden?

Comment by Emris Greenwood on August 21, 2013 at 3:54

I just use a sauce pan, be sure to work on a lower heat as coconut oil has a melting temp of 76* and will burn on higher temps. Just melt the oil and wax together and stir in the dry ingredants, then poor into applicator tubes, then let it harden.

Do I need a double boiler to make the deodorant? I almost have everything I need.
