After reading a few books on group creation and management as well as spiritual leadership, I found a recurring theme. Each of them discussed a group of fellow leaders that one could turn to in times of stress and trouble within their own group.
Not having any such community to fall back on locally, I turned to the OPC to provide that. This group is basically there for this. It's a way for new leaders to learn from the experience of those who have been at it for a while (because books on the subject are great, but when certain situations arise, one doesn't always know where else to turn) and for leaders with more experience to post advice for those newer to it.
This isn't meant to be a way to talk about one's group members or those in one's community behind their backs. Some details are needed for advice to be suited to the situation, though. Use good judgement when discussing details about others and your group.

I am a young man, who at a young age became the head of his kindred. I know that I do not always make the right decisions, but I do try to learn from my mistakes. When I was 19 my father departed for…Continue

Before anyone panics, it's not about me. My husband and I are still the crazy-silly-in-love-with-each-other happy couple. Over the past couple weeks, a few interesting things have happened to…Continue

Recently, for a combination of reasons, I decided that I will not pursue training for, nor would accept becoming a priestess in the tradition where I am an initiate. (If anyone is curious, I'll…Continue

Comment by Lark on December 22, 2010 at 18:52 Hi everyone. I've been part of covens since 1990 and I ran a large teaching coven of my own from 1996 to 2008. I'm happy to share my experiences and my thoughts on group leadership.
The Trad in which I trained also believed very strongly in the need for competent and caring Pagan clergy. I am currently working on a Master's of Divinity with an emphasis on Pagan Pastoral Counseling through Cherry Hill Seminary and I regularly teach workshops on the topic of acting as clergy.
Sounds like a good idea, and I'd be happy to participate. I am blessed to have a vigorous, local and extended upline, but it's always good to have another sounding board. I've been a coven leader for (mumble, mumble) years, but it's small and has had basically the same 2-3 students, so I'd like to hear about others' experiences.
Comment by Aislynn on December 11, 2010 at 10:12 That's what I figured. I'd read a bit ago about your considering starting a study group. So, I thought you'd probably have just as much to gain here as I do.
Comment by Alorer Stefanos (The Gecko) on December 11, 2010 at 7:46 Thanks for the invitation. I'm not - yet - a leader of any group, and Gods forbid if I am considered an Elder. O_O
I am in the process of creating a study group though so I hope to gain from this place (as well as give what little help I can).
