This is my first post, so please bear with me. I'm curious where other wiccans, seekers, pagans, and heathens network. Looking through the groups on Witchvox for Louisville, KY, there aren't many listings anymore. I remember a time when there were 4 pages worth of groups, and multitudes of pages for individuals.

I know Facebook groups are very popular now, but what do you do if you can't necessarily join them because of work/school/other family reasons? I'm a subscriber of Amber&Jet so at least there's that much! I also made an alternate FB profile that looks pretty sparse just to join some of these FB groups, but I wish there was a way to make what groups you join private so people on your friends list can't see them. Not because I'm ashamed, it's just that right now, with Nursing school and the inevitability of needing a hospital or doctor's office to hire me so I can further that education into an NP license, I just can't risk the ignorance of others killing my dream.

I have been practicing solitary for quite a long time, probably close to 9 years now. There have been times during those 9 years that I've been more active in my craft than others, for reasons I don't want to make public. I would love to find a Gardnerian coven, and apparently you can't sling a cat in Louisville without hitting a Gard, or so I've heard. I am signed back up for Pagan Meetups in Louisville, and I feel like I'm doing everything I know of to put myself back out there but I wonder if there's anything else I can do.

My favorite metaphysical shoppe closed years ago, Nature's Magick. That place and it's owners were amazing and I got to know, but sadly fell out of touch with people that I met via that shoppe. I know of a couple other shoppes in town but that's it. I guess I could go there too. Sorry if I'm talking in circles or thinking with my fingers on the keys, I am just tired of practicing solitary and I want a spiritual family to call home.

My mother and step-father (SF is an evangelical preacher- yikes!) will call down fire and brimstone on my head if I told them anything about my path, which is why to them it's always remained a secret. My husband is fantastic and as supportive as I could ask for. He's really into anything I enjoy and he's happy I've started looking for a coven to work with. Nothing is ever secret from him, since with him, I am free to be myself. Sure would be nice if I could say the same for everyone else in my life. I digress.

TL;DR - Where my witches at? Please help! :)

I've found quite a few active groups on Facebook, that seems to be where the most networking takes place now. Hopefully through meetup and hanging around the metaphysical shoppes I can find some more people. Good luck on your search too Kalessin.

I'm already there! But thank you for thinking of me :)

Oh honey you can make the facebook groups private I have one on facebook called The Broom Closet that's private.Only the people that belong can see the posts :)

I recently couldn't find Real Pagan online and was quite upset wondering if I had lost this resource .Theres lots of fluff out there but I find real substance here

Im so pleased this site is back up

Thanks for that Harobed, I'll look into it!

Facebook can be a valuble resource in the aspect that its free and you can keep up with internet friends that you might otherwise lose track of.I signed up for facebook when a ning site I had belonged to for years gave notice of closing.I created "The Broom Closet " as a private group so we could still have a place of fellowship with some privacy.Ive never regretted that decision we are now a group of 87 like here everyone gets along and its great.I love the few ning sites I belong to this one in particular but more than that I love the people here that Ive met ,Facebook is a way I get to keep you in case of something in ning going fubar.I cordially invite any of you who are bouncing around facebook to friend me .....if you would like to join us in "the closet say so and I'll be glad to add you :)

I've been having a similar discussion with a friend here: there seems to be a decline in the number of Pagan forums. Has everyone moved to FB? Personally, I don't care for FB. I know they say Wicca is the fastest-growing religion, but I wonder if the numbers could actually be dwindling. There's also a dearth of non-Wiccan Witchcraft forums.

As far as Wicca being the fastest growing ,I think its more that its the most mainstream and hip to claim .I find the dearth of information is due more to the fact that we as pagans don't really share our day to day /hands on....... this is how I do that thing I do .Most are to busy to blog or teach and the ones that do are so wide spread its hard to find them .But when you do stumble across a great piece of info its such a great feeling it makes the hunt worthwhile

looking for kindred spirits in the Salisbury Md area.

Crystal, you might want to connect with your local Pagan Pride Day group:  http://www.louisvillepaganpride.org/index.php

Even if you can't attend this year's event, you might get info on local events and groups by contacting them.

I'm inclined to agree. Wicca itself isn't the fastest growing, rather Eclectic Paganism & Witchcraft are by far the most populous segment of Neopaganism. The confusion is that many of these practices often borrow from Wicca and call themselves "Wicca", though they different widely from one to the next and are not a continuation of "the religion" of Wicca.
