As long as you are using a low temp oil and NEVER NEVER(this is for any one trying this for the first time) use any type of out door torch oil (i.e tikki oil) or Coleman lantern fuel. One other thing you can add is a wick stone. What might that be you ask. well it a stone with a hole in the middle that the wick fits in nice a snug and it keep your wick from falling in your lamp.
Love this idea, so long as yo… tag:realpagan.net,2011-07-27:6330711:Comment:120150 2011-07-27T23:57:49.699Z Seren Haf http://realpagan.net/profile/SerenHaf
Love this idea, so long as you stand it in a bowl, you shouldn't have a problem of oil going everywhere

Love this idea, so long as you stand it in a bowl, you shouldn't have a problem of oil going everywhere

@ Oak, sure can! And thanks! tag:realpagan.net,2011-07-27:6330711:Comment:119950 2011-07-27T13:28:48.225Z Flammeous {De Empress} http://realpagan.net/profile/Flammeous @ Oak, sure can! And thanks! @ Oak, sure can! And thanks! There are made of a glass that will hold up to the heat from the wick and the lid of the baby food jars will displace the heat.

What one has to watch out for is the lid getting to hot and causing the jar to crack. This can happen when with low grade glass that not made to handle heat, being it is hotter at the top of the jar(glass) when the lamp is lite. This can happen when with low grade glass that not made to handle heat, being it is hotter at the top of the jar(glass) when the lamp is lite. The next thing that can also happen with this type of glass is when your flame goes out that can cause rapped cooling. both of these will result in the jar(glass) cracking and leaking your oil over over the bloody place and it happen to be burning at the time things might tended to get a bit dodgy( i.e. set ones house on fire).

Theses jar lamp are really cool and can be used in so many ways.
