The Witch's Rede & the Threefold Law
11 Replies

There has been quite a lot of discussion about these concepts in recent days, I've noticed. So, I thought I'd touch on those concepts a little. This is the material I teach folks in my Outer Court gr…

The Dweller on the Threshold

So, let's talk about the Dweller.Within each of us exists a thing we like to call the Dweller on the Threshold. If you understand the process of spiritual evolution to be like walking through a door,…

Alexandrian Tradition

This is an article posted to various places around the web in 2008. Though it does not by any means represent the views of the whole of the Tradition - a feat that would be all but impossible today -…

It's the proper word to use, honestly.   The spirits of the true elemental plane are entirely constructs of the magician's Will - being wholly energies of the four disparate elements, they do not share in the Quintessence (one of the gifts of which…

Excellent! An infrequently discussed topic. Magicians often refer to these spirits as "elementals," because that is the spiritual "clay" that the magician's Will draws upon to give etheric form to this spirit.

Excellent as usual!!  Thank you, Oak.  I think that this is an often misunderstood, and conjectured upon, part of your path.  Thank you for posting this.

I have folks in my lineage who are atheists, in fact. :)   Belief is not defined in the praxis at all - we perform these rites as they are intended to be performed, using the skills we have developed in the priesthood. The skills that are used in ma…

This is a lovely post, Oak, and very informative. While I believe in served to answer that question quite well, another relevant one comes to surface: To what degree of belief is defined in the practice? You suggested that the Lord and Lady are re…

To hell with defining evidence. :) I'm interested in defining "believe." ;) It's always been such a meaningless term to me. I'm about the doing, and the experience. There are things that I know, and things that I don't know. I'm not really sure what…

Thanks, Adley. :) It felt a bit presumptuous writing this, at first, as though I had any say in answering this question for all of BTW, but from what I've gathered from other BTW folks over the years, this is (mostly) consistent with their praxis as…

Get Your Hands Dirty

Get in there.

You know you've wanted to for a long time. You've been toying with it, talking about it, writing about it, thinking about it. Whatever it is you want to do, there is no reason not to, and every reason to do so.

At 8 pm, I could feel the Rolling Thunder of the Octavo Working pass overhead. In it, I could taste excitement, nervousness, elation and a sense of finally doing it. I wanted help in this not just for the power, but because magic is a way…

A Rebuttal to "On Oathbinding: An Opinion"

Full Disclosure: I am the individual that Ma'ateo interviewed for his article in the Pulse, Issue 01, entitled "On Oathbinding: An Opinion." If you haven't read that before reading this, you may want to do so - it will make no sense, otherwise.

I will admit to being somewhat disheartened to read this article. The four very relevant points I laid out for why we do what we do were at…

The Temple Herb Cabinet

So, having purchased a bunch of materials to make my Yuletide Tobys for friends, I found that a couple of things I purchased were unnecessary - I already had them in my temple stock. So, I decided to take stock and see what I have for just that purpose. Thought I'd drop it here, just for giggles, honestly.

Thanks. I've already admitted I engaged in inappropriate and unacceptable behavior. If anything happens to this site that relates to what I did, you can blame me.
