YEMAYA’S WISDOM:
I am the force that swirls beneath the surface,
She who connects Sea and Sky,
the Infinite Mother who reclaims you.
Feel the sand beneath your feet, hold the conch to your ear,
gaze upon My Blue,
and you know Me.
Submit your troubles upon Me,
cast your cares into the heart of the ocean that is Me.
I will nurture you,
wipe your tears,
soothe the anger,
and shelter you from the coming storms.
In your surrender, I become your voice.
In the giving over, I become your freedom.
Daughter, come home, and allow Me
to make whole
that which is incomplete.
YEMAYA INVOCATION:
Goddess who is Mother of All,
Queen of the Deep Sea,
Protectress of women -
Allow your presence to be known throughout this sacred space.
We who call upon you as Yemaya
Our Mother, Our Womb of Creation,
ask that your love rolls and washes over us as the waves of the ocean,
as the rivers from your breasts.
Yemaya, Mother Whose Children are Fish
You who are comfort, inspiration, and forgiveness
We call you forth to enter our hearts

She is considered Mother of the Orisha by adherents of Ifa
-Orisa and it's diasporic traditions of Lukumi/Santeria and the Brazilian analogues. The Orisha, in turn, created humanity- notably the vocation of Obatala, however. He owns all 'heads' and is therefore considered the Creator of humanity.
She is identified with the oceans, but not originally. Her initial domain was the cemetery. However, a pataki (story) tells us that She managed to trick Oya into a trade for the ocean. Oya now has the cemetery, and has not quite forgiven Yemaya for the shady deal. :p
Yemaya owns the ocean above, but the depths and turbulence is under the rulership of another, Olokun.
I will also add that the Orisha vastly prefer to be honored in their traditional religous practice. There's a popular story in the ATR community whereby the often gentle Oshun actually mounted a Wiccan priestess that called upon her in a circle and have them all a very stern warning to never do it again.

I am not expereinced/knowledgable enough to even consider calling upon her (hairs stand on end!) but I will burn a candle of her image and pray, with the utmost humility.

You should join the ATR group here. She will undoubtably be mentioned.
