"Listening, drawing sound, motion, and thought together, I find my concentration. My imagination opens and reaches out. And in that reaching I begin to recognize myself. My hands feel like my hands and not the mitts I usually walk around with."

Greetings from a fellow musician. I play the drums. Unfortunately I'm a perfectionist so I don't play in front of people for fear of messing up.
Greetings Kelle.
Hey everyone! I'm currently studying for my bachelors in violin performance and do some viola and piano on the side. I'm glad there's a group like this...I love meeting musicians from all over the place. If anyone wants to talk music with me, I love early music through antiquity, classical through late romantic and symphonic metal :]

Yes MoonCrone I myself sadly now the ins and outs of dealing with life as a dyslexic. It does making reading sheet music loads of fun. I also just started trying to pick up where I left playing the organ oh about 40 years ago. the hard part I'm finding is to not play by "ear". I have to admit most of the kat I have play with over the years couldn't read sheet music if their lived depend on it. No matter how well they played.
Greetings Awen welcome to the group.
Hi all - I pay violin and piano and studied some voice in college, but mostly just do it for fun with friends now. What a great idea for a group. No matter how my spiritual life has evolved over the years, one thing always remained constant - music (and really anything creative) make me feel closer to the heart of my path.
Merry Meet, Daniel O'Neill (Cat wrangler), glad to be in contact with a like-minded person! Hope you manage to source your new strings. My zither (table harp) has metal "strings" and sounds quite medieval, more like a dulcimer (which you would hit with hammers, not pluck). I find it quite hard going on my delicate little finger tips so only practice now and again. It's possible to get metal picks which fit over your nails, but I found I couldn't get on with those as I have metal allergies which these picks seem to trigger. I am currently seeking replacements for them which I might get on better with. Do you read sheet music? If so, I envy you!!! I have a kind of dyslexia which won't let me. The notes "dance" all over the page so I can only play by learning set pieces. But the good news is I can watch somebody play something then replicate it quite easily so I can compensate. Do you have a favourite type of music you like to play? My favourite has to be celtic stuff but I have also learned a few others including Stairway to Heaven by Led Zep, Natural Mystic by Bob Marley, and a few others not traditionally associated with strings - but that's me all over, I love breaking with convention!!!
