Monoliths, and other sacred sites.

Hiya,

Over here in the UK, the Druids are most strongly associated with Stonehenge, I think,

but I myself have not been there much at all since they fenced it all in and turned it into something of a tourist attraction.

Before then, back in the 60's, 70's and early 80's, I spent a great deal of time at the stones because it made me happy, made me feel connected with the land and the cosmos,

then came something called "the battle of the beanfield" a shocking turn of events that sent repercussions all over this country and beyond (look it up if you are interested to learn more about that) and it kept me and countless others well away for decades.

Now I have moved to Wales, and I spend what time I can up on the Preselli mountains, visiting the site where the Blue Stones for the henge are believed to have come from, and I have to say I find it far more rewarding and satisfying than the henge, and I guess I can only put that down to a feeling that the place is "un spoilt" more like as nature formed it to be all those thousands of years ago.

I also love to visit Pentre Ifan, a nearby cromlech,

it's a little difficult to find for those new to the area,

lots of narrow windey country lanes with turn offs very easy to miss,

but well worth sticking at it until you do.

It's got me wondering are there others here on this forum interested in such sacred sites, or is it just me?

It's not just you. One of my matron Goddesses is Brighid. I would love to visit the Flame of St. Brigid at Glastonbury Tor. I know it is kept by Catholics, but for CR's that is a necessary compromise. As long as they would let me spend time and offer there that is all I ask.

For the life of me I can't remember the name, but I believe there are two hills located in Ireland that was attributed to Danu, one of my other Matrons. They have been referred to as the "Paps of Anu" I would love to visit that place as well.

Glad to connect with somebody like-minded here so soon already!

Glastonbury is an interesting place, I think you either love it or loathe it, depending on how you experience it.

It's not for me, I'm afraid, but each to their own, eh?

I have visited Dublin, Wexford & Waterford, and Galway.

I adored Galway and pray I get to return there one day.

Ireland sure has some beautiful sacred sites.

I hope you get to visit your sacred site soon.

I have a place i go to before I moved. As soon as i get near it, I could felt at ease and mindful. I would mediate for hours and listen to the wind. At any rate I havent been to any sacred sites, but would love to one day.

I believe its what make you feel at peace and sometimes your home can be a sacred site as silly as that sounds.
