RealPagan- Paganism for the Real World

Ok so I was researching druidism/Celtic craft today and I have some questions based on what I have found so far

I was looking at the 3 different 'aspects' of Celticism as in the Druid's Bard's and Ovates. I know what they technically are about but some websites seem to indicate that Bards and Ovates are still druids but just are specialized. So my first question is can Druids be Ovates? I'm a little confused on the different specializations in Celtic craft and how it pertains to Druidism. Are they like jobs to fulfill?

The interesting story that lead me to start asking this question is I have just started getting into the World of Ball Jointed Dolls and the way I painted my dolls face with green eyeshadow and used earthly colors on her resin kind of makes her look like a lil druidic. I was going to make her a green robe but I wanted to be accurate so I researched the facts on robe colors, despite the popular fiction I learned that druids don't wear green robes but wear white robes. So Now I'm not sure if my doll is going to be an Ovate or a Druid.

I know this is kind of silly asking for the sake of a doll but I am genuinely curious because if I were to go celtic in the craft I Feel Like I have possibly all 3 'pofessions' in me. I love writing poetry (bard) I have a strong intuition and have strong seer abilities and healing abilities (ovate) and yet I know I sometimes on occasion show wisdom, have always loved nature and even talked to trees as a kid, and can see the nature of things philosophically (Druid). But can a person be all 3? It doesn't seem like it from what I'm reading.

Also with regards to robe colors, another reason why I'm asking is I want to make myself a robe I can wear when I do magic and preform my own solitary rituals and I was thinking of either white, green or brown but wasn't sure of the color correspondents. I certainly didn't want to make a druid robe if I'm not a druid, But looking at Christianity and other spiritual paths most wear white robes so maybe white robes are universal?

A general medical practitioner knows about the heart, lungs, and the brain. Yet a cardiologist specializes in the heart, a neurologist in the brain, and pulminologist in the lungs. Make sense?

I think I'm getting what you mean but I was looking for a simpler explanation because on one hand I sorta understand a little but on the other hand I'm like What? I know your giving an example/metaphor but giving an example without an explanation doesn't make sense to me. sorry my brain isn't grasping right away.

Druids were the judicial and spiritual leaders of their communities. Ovates were diviners, healers, and people of the land. Bards were historians, and teachers.

You can practice magic, divine the future, practice herbalism, and learn some poems, but it is not the same as devoting your life to one of those areas. Being a druid is specializing in that area. For your life that is what you will learn. Learning many things automatically means you will not have the time to learn as much about spirituality as the Druid who will be studying predominately spirituality.

How's that? lol.

Better thanks :) However, I don't just learn some poems, I write them. Been writing them since I was 9ish but don't think I'm a bard lol... not much interest in that area, I don't really tell stories that great either... but I'm saying these things if I were to try and go celtic in the craft. However, it might be the case I might already be on the path because Danu came to me the last full moon. as for being a healer, there are many different types of healers. A dr is a healer, some one who heals the psyche is a healer, someone who has a niche for energy healing is a healer, a herbalist is a healer, etc. But in anycase I think the doll is an ovate. Ever since I got her my dreams and visions seemed to have sharpened. It was some trickster spirit that told me she was a druid...In any case her robes will be green.
