Looks like we're in for another round of witchy TV.  In this case it looks as though someone put Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and The Craft together in a dark room and they bred.  http://www.cwtv.com/shows/the-secret-circle

I suspect that by Samhain we'll be dealing with questions about "blood Witches" and other nonsense on a regular basis.

But then, watching TV about the lives of real-life Witches would be pretty boring.  No explosions, no unexplained fires, no levitation.  Sheesh!

Kinda reminds me of the movie The Craft. Hvaing a show about true to life witches wouldnt bring in any veiwers, this will be one of those shows that last couple season and has people making comments and saying things. But for those of us who know the true meaning, past ect.... We stand firm.Iam sure friends will say things, ask questions, its one of those moments when we can set the recond straight!  Blessed Be
If that's the one about the "young wiccans of Salem" then, yeah, it sucked hard and should be called " young fluffies in Salem". *sighs* shows like these are reason 78 why no one tries to learn anything factual about witchcraft.

Oh wow a show about witches by the people who brought you Gossip Girl. And yesterday I learned that ED from witches school is doing one about young wiccans.I saw the trailer for that and it looked totally lame.Yawn.
Oh lovely and a CW show at that. yuck. *sigh* And yeah, I heard about the young witches of Salem one too. Be afraid, be very afraid. Ugh.
Well that will get tongs a flapping and finger ah taping over at Ye O'l Pagan dear Abby(WT).

I remember reading these books many moons ago as a kid.  They're written by L.J. Smith; the same author who wrote the Vampire Diaries.  It's just another 'teenage paranormal romance show'.  Both the shows and books are flooding the market right now.  I used to read paranormal romance until the 'great flood of bloodsuckers' happened.

If they were going to make a Witch TV show, I at least wish they'd adapt the "Sweep" series.  They're much better than most of the dreck out there.  Or the "Blue is for Nightmares" series.  It's probably the best Witch fiction for young adults that's out there.

Me, personally, I think that if they are going to go all fantasy, and not bother with any sort of fact, then they should go all out. Make high fantasy, like Lord of the Rings or Sinbad the Sailor or something, not this pseudo-fantasy tripe.
well personally I enjoy shows like Charmed I thought the Movie The Craft was a pretty good movie of course I know now and knew then that what fact existed in those shows/movies was so miniscule as to be non-existent;however, I also know personally three people who WERE inspired to do their own research and two of those people have converted to one form of paganism or another so while yes the fact that 90% of the people that will watch this and other shows/movies like it won't bother to take the time to learn anything factual there ARE a few people that will find their way to the fold because of these shows/movies and I can't complain about that all WE can do is use the curiosity that the shows/movies create in our friends and family to at least inform a few people on the reality's of life as a REAL witch.
Oh, Gods. I saw The CW and knew it was not going to be amazing television, I know that even here in the UK, haha. As if there couldn't be more of an influx of young adolescents searching for ultimate power.

"You're a witch, we all are. There, done!"  ...What?

hum interesting

i agree with Treazon i like fantasy shows i don't even care if they are kind of lame and have no facts. i was huge Buffy fan. i read lots of Urban fantasy when i can buy books that is and Kim Harrison does a cool universe with vamps witches weres and ect that i love and i enjoy as many variations on the theme as writers can come up with. I enjoy being entertained and love stories that have fantasy elements from classic sword and sorcery to modern urban fantasy. Art it not meant to be fact it is meant to entertain. So i have no this is good that is not filter neither does most of the public it is one of the few ways that i seem normal to normal folks.  Maybe i am tasteless and lack discernment. But i do know none of it is real Neither is Pirates of the Caribbean, but i love those films  too. and the witch movie with Bette Middler and Carol Kane made for kids with the talking cat. If it were not for many stories like these i never would have started studying Paganism or Magic. If one is aware that fiction is not reality they do allow for the opening of the mind a bit.

Its based on a book series by LJ Smith. I have never read this book but seen the book in the young adult section of a book store my ex used to work at. I actually contemplated reading it just to see what it was like. LJ smith has a couple of short stories I have enjoyed. ONe about witches is called Spellbound. I found it enjoable in a cute kiddie way but I enjoy having a play date with my inner child sometimes. BB
I agree with you Vickie very nice post indeed :)
