within my Coven [ and I sure in many other places lol]
Hecate is associated strongly with crossroads.
I know we've left offering for her at them.
Is there a tradition of her as well as the black man at cross roads in Hoodo?
Permalink Reply by Seren Haf on November 30, 2010 at 13:41 There isn't, no. Hoodoo doesn't actually have any religious or divine aspects to it, so it generally makes no mention of gods or the Divine, other than the Christian god - but even that's mainly because it's the culture hoodoo developed in more than anything else. There are several tricks that indicate that you pray, but they never tell you who exactly to pray to.
I would say that the traditions of Hekate (who, I believe is most-often associated with three-way crossroads) and the Crossroads of Hoodoo (which are always four-road crossroads) tend to be different.

Permalink Reply by Oakthorne on December 6, 2010 at 18:07 I have a question:
I've noticed that a lot of tobys and other magical items can or should be disposed of at a crossroads. So the question is, does the item in question have to be buried in the center of the crossroads or could it be off to the side? Unfortunately the only crossroads I know of is paved and not a dirt road so burying it in the center is out of the question. The amusing thing is a crossroads church stands on one corner.
Thanks in advance!
Permalink Reply by Eis on January 14, 2011 at 18:28 The Appalachian Dark Rider sounds so spooky... I live out in the boonies, and have to cross a dirt and gravel crossroads to get home. This is absolutely fascinating. If I wasn't such a chicken, I'd run out to it later with my High John root and see if he'd have aught to do with me.
Like Sang said, the Keys idea is brilliant. Awesomness, pure awesomeness!

Permalink Reply by Strata on June 7, 2011 at 20:58 Jas.. are there any parks, graveyards, bridges, ect.. in your area.. a crossroads is simply where two "roads" cross... it doesn't have to be a street, per se..
if not, the idea is to bury is as *close* to the middle as possible... so if the side of the road it the closest you can get, so be it... but I am sure you at least have a bridge you could use, no??
