I hope you get to the bottom of your cardinal visits, and that it is an omen of better times to come for you.

I'm a great believer in colour magick, and being a red bird, I would say the message it brings is one of passion, of new life ahead, of health and vitality to come, of positive outcomes... and generally something good to be happy about.

Only warnings I can see is perhaps an element of unfulfilled desires?

Anyways, I'm real happy for you, wish we got red birds…

Cardinals are associated with renewed vitality through recognizing self-importance. The cycle of power for this totem/energy is year-round, often with rhythms of twelve (hours, days, months, years). They are part of the Finch family and study of finches could prove beneficial. They have a loud and clear whistle. Cardinals are associated with renewed vitality through recognizing self-importance. The cycle of power for this totem/energy is year-round, often with rhythms of twelve (hours, days, months, years). They are part of the Finch family and study of finches could prove beneficial. They have a loud and clear whistle. Whistles are often a reminder to listen closely--to pay attention to what is blowing in the winds. The females join in on the whistling, which is unusual among birds. This reflects that we should be listening to the inner voice, the feminine, more closely for our own health and well-being. Since most female birds are usually quiet and camouflaged, a cardinal totem/energy almost always reflects a need to assert the feminine aspects of creativity and intuition more strongly. Cardinals can reflect a need to be more careful about your diet, that what you are eating/consuming may be injurious to yourself and affecting your overall vitality. The male cardinal is a good parent, and often shares the task of egg incubation with the female. The male, though, will always feed the female while she is on the nest, and the baby cardinals too. Although the male normally has the brighter color, when sharing the task of egg incubation its colors remain much the same as the female's for the sake of camouflage. This often reflects lessons associated with responsibility and the recognition of the importance of the task at hand. As your totem cardinals may reflect past-life connections with the church, or even a reviving of more traditional religious beliefs, regardless of denomination. Cardinals brighten the environment. They add color to our lives. When they appear as a totem, they do so to remind us to become like them. Add color to your life, and remember that everything you do is of importance.
Look for American Folklore involving Cardinals or song birds in general - could turn up some interesting results. I'd personally go with any lore that originated in your state or area - but that's just me. ;) Good luck.

Unless the window has a reflective tint to it, then I would say it is worth noting. Cardinals are very shy with people and tend to flit into the trees as soon as a human is spotted. If you have any kind of reflective coating in or on the glass then it may have thought it was another cardinal it was brushing up against.

We have a zebra back wood pecker that is not very shy. He likes to hammer away on the empty bird feeder to tell us to refill it. lol I hollered at him one time…

Birds can be quirky sometimes.
