Hello, I'm new on this site and I'm not sure if I'm putting my intro in the right place, actually I only recently learned to use a computer. And I'm 60! I was transplanted to Kansas from California, and was fortunate enough to find a BTW group and HPS near me!!! I am so privileged, this was what I wanted and worked for. By day, I work with small children and rescue homeless pets. I love a good debate and I enjoy hearing from people of many traditions
Good fortune to all of you and I'm happy to be here.

Permalink Reply by Ferne on August 28, 2012 at 20:09 Hi Ashe! Nice to meet another Elder here. How do you compare Kansas to California? I live in Northern California and I don't think I'd last more than two days in Kansas!
If you feel like chatting, give me a shout! I've been practicing folk magick for about 50 years and I'm interested in all sorts of traditions. I also care for my 4 year old Grandson about 5 days a week while Mommy's at work...and I have cats and snakes. I'm sure we can find stuff to gab about!
BB Ferne! Kansas has taken a bad rap! Actually the Green Man is very much in residence here though the tornadic weather can be hair raising for a California gal. It gets pretty frightening. BUT.. no freeways, no smog, and a wait of 5 minutes at the DMV! Supermarket lines take 5 minutes max (eat your heart out). I'm from No. Ca too, SF Bay area. I don't miss the 680 or 101 at rush hour but I do miss the ethnic restaurants. I just cooked up a mess of grits, there's no going back now...
There's a thriving Pagan underground in the college towns but experienced Wiccans and CM's are rare. Do keep in touch!!!! I should point out I'm an Elder in years only, A BTW Dedicant actually. Gardnerian .
Permalink Reply by Ferne on August 29, 2012 at 1:03 Guess I've watched The Wizard of Oz too many times, Ashe! Actually, my Dad (almost 99 years old) lives in Wichita, not having the strength or wits to prevent his much younger wife from dragging him off from his comfy, forested nest in Idyllwild a couple of years ago to go live near her people. Since then, I've paid more attention to tornado warnings and corn futures ;).
I live north of the City, about 45 mins. from the GG Bridge and don't suffer as much as my City cousins do with traffic and interminable waiting lines. And, as you know, the place is lousy with Pagans of every stripe.
Nice to know that there are actual Gardnerian Wiccans out there...thataway! For a long while when someone would tell me that they were Wiccan, I'd ask, 'Gardnerian or Alexandrian?' and they'd just give me a cow-eyed stare. It finally dawned on me that there are Wiccans and then there are Wiccans. I know, it's so Zen, isn't it? Took me a couple of years and some brain massages to get used to it.
OMGs...no ethnic food? I feel for you! I must say, though, as close as I am to the City, there's no getting a decent (or indecent) pastrami sandwich here at 3AM unless I make it! Do they have pastrami in Kansas?
